• What is a Modern Mayberry Mama?
  Hi! I’m Brittany and I’m delighted you’re reading this. Because if you are, maybe that means the title of this blog resonates in your soul. Some of you may already get where I’m going with the phrase “modern mayberry mama,” while others are here out of pure curiosity. Or maybe both. Let me start by defining what a modern mayberry mama is. Modern Mayberry Mama’s can be a peculiar group. In fact, we pride ourselves on our peculiarities. To put it simply, we love the simple things in life and that makes us a bit odd. We wish that everyone went to preachin’ on Sundays. In our idyllic world, parents gather with their kids and neighbors on the front porch on Sunday afternoon to sip lemonade and shoot the breeze and sing songs while someone plays along on a guitar. Modern Mayberry Mamas love to cook and bake (all while wearing a cute apron, heels, and a pearl necklace…too much?) They love taking care of their home and love family time. Sometimes, we mamas can feel a bit like an anachronism, as if we were born in the wrong era. Technology can feel like more of a burden than a blessing. We would much rather read a book with our feet propped up in front of a fire place on a cold winter evening, mug of tea or coffee in hand, than waste our time perusing social media (which is a little ironic, since we need social media to blog about loving the simple things.) Keeping up with the Joneses is tiresome, leaving us drained and emotionally discontent. We weren’t meant to spend our days comparing ourselves to everyone else. This may be hard to fathom, but there once was a world without social media. At the same time, we love being able to have this power at our fingertips that enables us to share our ideas with the world. Hang in there, all my Modern Mayberry Mamas. The simples things in life are our inspiration and they inspire others, too. We are changing the world, one homemade candle or freshly baked scone at a time.
